You know there is way more to us Canadians than the "gorgeous" Ryan Gosling, the "amazing" Drake and the "oh so dreamy" Justin Fucking Bieber.
This post isnt about a rant or a musician or any other celebrity of some sorts, but a post to pay appreciation to one of the greatest Canadians ever to walk the earth.
Terry Fox was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) in his right leg in 1977 and had his leg amputated 15 cm (six inches) above the knee. While in hospital, Terry was so overcome by the suffering of other cancer patients that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He called his journey the Marathon of Hope.

Terry was forced to end his run on September 1, 1980 when the cancer spread to his lungs.
By February 1, 1981, Terry's dream of raising $1 for every Canadian was realized - the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope fund totaled $24.17 million. Terry died in June 1981.

I remember learning about Terry Fox in high school running marathons in his honor. Truly, I can't express how proud I am to be Canadian, knowing a man like him put no limits to his hopes and aspirations despite his illness, a true hero. The power of the mind and it's determination can never be destroyed if you hold on to it. Anybody can make a difference in their own medium of choice... If you can change the way people feel for the better...then you got it. In my opinion, Terry Fox was one of the greatest LIFE Artists (yes, I called him an artist) of all time because he did just that. Years later, and Terry fox's story will always remain an inspiration. This man taught me that it's not even about how far you go, but how far you are WILLING to go. He made his dreams come true even after he passed away... Now what's your excuse?
"Terry trained for 15 months, running 3,159 miles, running until his stump was raw and bleeding, running every day for 101 days, until he could run 23 miles a day. He took one day off at Christmas, only because his mother asked him."
Rest In Perseverance.
