BNE Wasn't Here

If you've walked the streets of any major city in the world, then you must have seen BNE stickers somewhere, if not everywhere. An artist that has been around for quite a while who is constantly bringing intrigue among street art observers like myself. Recently, BNE decided to spread something other than just a tag in his work. He created a charity called BNE WATER which aims to bring clean water and sanitation to people living in poverty in developing countries.

"Our goal is to raise at least $500,000 dollars before March 1st, but I believe that we are capable of raising the full two million dollars or even more. When united in large numbers, the power of the people is massive. With everyone’s support, achieving this goal will not be very difficult."

Now what could be any more dope? Art for a good cause is always something I approve of. When you think about it we are fortunate enough to live in a place where fresh water isn't really a worry at all. Truth is though, water isn't gonna stay abundant to us forever if we keep on taking it for granted the way we do. 4,500 children die everyday from water related diseases... In 2011 though?!! Isn't it kinda the stupidest thing ever to know that people are dying because they can't get fresh water in the fuckin year 2011? Something that we could of no doubt, prevented!!!! Disastrously sad, in some places we progress in our minds, but in other places we just never move forward. Maybe that's something to think about. Let's put our culture to the test & do something.  Acknowledgement is always a start!  The utmost respect goes out to BNE and his supporters. Be sure to tell people about this!

"I realized that with my art I had a global voice and not to use it for good would be a waste. I needed to use this brand that I created to make some sort of positive social change.
