TAG, YOU'RE IT.

Recently,
I had a photography class, where my last portfolio involved a theme and 12 final printed pictures. My theme was THE INFAMOUS. Just grabbed my manual cam went out with one of my main boys and caught pics of him taggin trucks, bus stops, mail boxes and all that other shit.

Presentation day came through, I posted up my pics and got nothing but a bunch of "What the fuck" reactions. Its funny I named it the Infamous, because we are indeed infamous, am I right? But also because as funny as this is, people don't seem to get the life of the taggers, the writers aka the people who express themselves in this medium.

I mean yo, seriously, it aint easy to be creepin at night writin' your shit and gettin away with it. There is a certain amount of risk (and if you're about to say well they dont have to be doing it, then your on the wrong blog here buddy)anyway, it is a risk people put themselves through to do this & truly, the beauty in all the imperfections of tagged street signs, mail boxes, buses, etc... would not be there if it werent for US.

Remember graffiti is a motherfuggin' underground culture and if you dont get it, learn about it before you judge it. A lil appreciation here, a lot of people take for granted the free gallery of every day street art and it's truly a shame because some of us got some ill creative shit to say and even iller handstyles, bad enough were infamous, were humble! You dont even know who we are!

So just respect it, acknowledge it as little as by noticing it. This is all we got, would you rather be bombarded with a million ads by ridiculous corporations asking you to buy more useless shit you dont even need? These people take a laugh at you every fuckkin day and some are too blinded to see it. Nah Fuck that, again taggin, graffiti, vandalism, whatever you wanna call it, it's all we got. It's what THEY cannot control and we love it and will continue to do it, no matter what. A little paint never killed anyone. We will be heard! So as for my class, after my little explanation, I shed a little insight on some kids, which truly brought me joy, cuz our natural human instinct is to stereotype and thats fucked up!! So give it some thought, it's youth culture, we're like the voice of the voiceless. Appreciate, join us or whatever just acknowledge it cuz shit aint easy!
*Signing out; Representer of the youth
